It is said by the local people that King of Kendujhar was bringing Tarinini Maa from puri to Kendujhar with a condition that if he turn back then she'll not move further. The King was riding a horse and Goddess was following her to Kendujhar. King could know that Maa Tarini was coming behind from the sound of her ornaments but near the ghatagaon in the deep forest the sound of the ornaments didn't came and the king looked back thinking that she's not coming. But Maa Tarini was coming and due to the forest mud her ornaments sounds was not coming. Due to the condition Maa tarini stayed there and worshiped as the queen of Forest.

1.is the maa tarini temple  at ghatagaon 
Maa Tarini is one of the shakti peeth (Goddess of power) and the chief introductory goddess of odisha culture. It is situated in Keonjhar district and where Maa Tarini is situated that place is Ghatagaon. Previous people believe to shakti of natural things like to worship the river, tree trunks and rocks .Now in rural areas people believe to the shakti of natural things. Maa Tarini is always with a red face with two large eyes and a mark on the middle which indicates the tilak or nose. She is very similar to the goddess Kali of kallighat which is situated in kolkata. The temple of Maa is set on a sal tree, where she takes rest with full glory. 


2.sanaghagara waterfall Sanaghagara is located at a distance of 6 km from the district headquarters (Kendujhar) of Kendujhar district. It is situated at a distance of 3 kilometers on the upstream of Badaghagara Waterfall


3.Khandadhar FallsIt is a perennial horse tail type waterfall. The Korapani Nala, a small stream, plunges from a height of 244 metres. he Khandadhar Falls is 104 kilometres (65 mi) from Rourkela via Bonaigarh, and 132 kilometres (82 mi) from Kendujhar


4.Murga Mahadev Temple Murga Mahadeva is dedicated to Lord Shiva.It is located in Nuamundi mines area under Champua subdivision of kendujhar district.Lakhs of devotees visit this place during the month of Shraavan, Kartik, and during Shivaratri.It is an ancient shrine where both tribal and Brahminical system of worship are followed. This place is best for natural lovers. The spot is 70km From KeonjharOne of the oldest temples in the state. 


5.Jagannath Temple Jagannath is a Sanskrit name which describes a deity form of Lord Krishna. The term Jagannatha means Lord of the Universe. He is one of the important deities amongst the Vaishnavas. He is the merciful form of Lord Krishna who is worshiped by the Vaishnavas. The Shrine of Siddha Jagannath Keonjhar is dedicated to Lord Jagannath and he is one of the much revered deities in Orissa. Every year during Ratha Yatra, the temple is decorated and people celebrate this day with much fervor.



6.Gonasikha Temple , Gonashika is surrounded by a series of valleys and wooded hills of varying colours, the place is famous as a centre of pilgrimage for the temple of Brahmeswar Mahadev established by the side of river Baitarani. In fact, this is the place from where the river starts flowing.A little away from the point of origin, the river goes underground and hence called guptaganga only to be seen jumping after a short distance over a stone projection looking like the nostril of a cow.


7. Bhimkund Waterfal , bhimkund is a beautiful nature gifted water fall on the holly river baitarini
it is located to the boundary line between keonjhar and mayurbhanj at a distance about 100 km from the keonjhar.

8.Deogaon Kushaleswar A beautiful temple near to Anandapur,Keonjhar dt.Very attractive Lord Shiv temple.Excellent for worship
It is a religious sight situated in the bank of Kusei river.Pilgrims come here to worship lord Kapiledwar,another name of lord Siva.Other small temples are also there.Nearby situated Nuapada village where one can see Jagannath temple which is worth seeing.


9.Hadagarh Dam Hadagarh is the Dam on the river Salandi in Anandapur subdivision of Keonjhar. It is an ideal picnic spot for round the year. The scenic beauty of the spot is very charming.


10. Kanjhari Dam  Small dam,superb junglee view but its very attractive one and a nice picnic spot 
Built on the tributary of Brahmani river, this is a major irrigation project. 3.5 kms off the main road will lead you to this dam.
